Just a small town girl

Living in a lonely world
Took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
Took the midnight train going anywhere
I seen her in a smokey room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Oh yes, Journey. Not that I have a love affair with Journey, but I do with Scrubs, and the last episode i watched had Turk and JD singing this song, so I felt the need to share it with you all. Plus, I was in Vegas earlier this week, and this song reminds be a bit about the Las Vegas story for many of the residents there.

The New Job
Inspired! I have had my up days and down days as I have settled into a new job, at a new company, in a new role at that company, so its had its challenges. But this week, I had a chance to meet with a number of my partner accounts face to face, and I left Vegas, with a new Michael Kors handbag, and completely inspired with my job!

I was in Vegas for a total of 52 hours, but managed to squeeze in 7 partner meetings, 2 partner dinners, a few glasses of wine with a teammate to talk shop and get to know each other, and two baths in the extra deep, extra long tubs at the Palazzo. I consider that a pretty full and pretty productive 2+ days! Plus, I met countless new coworkers which will lead to some great new working relationships.

Racing
Motivated! I've been on the road the last two weeks, which usually I resent. I like my routines, I like my own house, and I love my boys (Jeff, Rollie and Bailey). That being said, I've really enjoyed meeting with my partners Face-to-Face to kick off our working relationships.

So, when I am in town, focus is the best word to describe my workout regimen. Last weekend, I actually endured a 3.5 hour workout on Saturday at my coach's studio. I taught an 8:00 class, then I stayed and spun through his 10:15 class. That took a lot of focus. That being said, Sunday was gorgeous, and I got to embark on a mini-triathlon of my own:
  • 3500 yards in the pool - the first swim since July
  • 3.5 mile run at Tennessee Valley - the first run on terra firma since last January
  • Finally, a 1 hour bike ride around Paradise Loop
Why, do you ask, would I choose to do all this? The answer: Because I can. 1 year ago I couldn't have done what I did last Sunday. Enough said.

This weekend will be TWO 4 hour rides...probably both on the road due to the rain as of late. The trails have been very messy! I don't mind the mud, but its a bit tretcherous, and not quite as fun, when its all muddy. Next weekend, hopefully, we'll get some quality time out on the trails! I miss mountain biking!

I've been oogling new full suspension bikes as of late, but haven't decided on one as of yet. I'll keep y'all posted as to what I decide. I certainly need one for  the BC bike race, I just need to figure out how much time before the race I need to have the bike.Stay tuned.

Other News
So this week, we closed on the house in Tahoe, so looks like the last weekend in March, we're headed to Tahoe to open the new home. We're still working out the details on furnishing/decorating the place, but now that we own it, we have time to figure that all out.

Point being, we now have a house in Tahoe. A house to escape to when life gets crazy. A house to use as a training base for all our outdoorsy friends. A house to come home to after a long day of skiing/snowboarding. Whatever the reason, we plan to make it a welcoming location for everyone to come home to.
